AROUND: Artistic Residency / Open Studio

We are happy to announce the four artists selected for the AROUND residency, a project that explores the theme of borders through contemporary and experimental languages.

Four young artists under 35 are called upon to develop digital works that will be included in AROUND's diffuse and phygital itinerary along routes in the #borderless area and accessible online via an interactive map → buzzculture.it/around

The selected artists:

Rui Yamaguchi (JPN) - transforms everyday gestures into poetic and political metaphors

Ferdinand Waas (DEU) - works between art, anthropology and marginal narratives

Gašper Rebernik (SLO) - integrates photography and conceptual installations

Daniele Micheletti (ITA) - investigates the instability of the image between real and digital

On the occasion of the AROUND residency, on 13 May the spaces of the ENAIP premises in Gorizia will host a special open studio day and a public workshop with the artist Michele Spanghero, senior guest of the project.

During the day it will be possible to meet the four selected under-35 artists - Rui Yamaguchi, Ferdinand Waas, Gašper Rebernik and Daniele Micheletti - and discover the development of their ongoing digital projects, including artistic research, video production and sound experimentation.

An opportunity to get to the heart of the residency, to listen to ideas in the making, to discuss, to ask questions and to discover different approaches to the theme of the border.

The workshop led by Michele Spanghero will offer a reflection on the expressive possibilities of contemporary art and the relationship between space, sound and image.

Technology, perception, installation and digital audio/video production will be discussed.

A moment open to young artists, students and anyone interested in understanding the ways in which contemporary art inhabits hybrid places and languages.
