Architecture Live: Ravnikar in Nova Gorica & Presentation of the Book Struktura modernosti
The spatial qualities of Nova Gorica, which we recognize today as the most characteristic, originate from the plan of Edvarda Ravnikarja, an architect who, in the early post-war years, sought spatial signs of a new demarcation and a more humane space. Although many of his plans were not realized due to economic constraints, the voids that remained still contribute to the identity of the city today.
Walk Architecture Live: Ravnikar in Nova Gorica will be led by architect Eva Sušnik, co-author of the exhibition Invisible shining city (Nonument Group), which explores the visible and invisible layers of Nova Gorica, from built and rebuilt to unrealized projects.
Among the latter are architectural ideas such as the concrete sun sculpture for Argonavti or Boris Podrecca's Park of Knowledge, which have remained only as echoes in space. It is precisely these voids, unfinished spaces, and utopian attempts that give the city its character between ideal and reality.
