Annibel Cunoldi Attems, Danilo Jejčič, Andrej Perko, Carlo Vidoni: "A Balancing Act"

The starting point of the group exhibition featuring four artists from the wider border area between Slovenia and Italy—Annibel Cunoldi Attems, Danilo Jejčič, Andrej Perko, and Carlo Vidoni—is a reflection on the fragile balance between nature and culture, which is crucial for the future of our planet.

Many believe we have reached a civilizational crossroads, a result of a distorted, profit-driven capitalism and the unstoppable desire to transcend the limits of nature in a modern, technologically advanced society.

The way out of the current situation is offered by the sustainability paradigm, which focuses on finding a balance between economic progress, social justice, and environmental awareness. However, sustainable practices still lack a clear developmental alternative, and the implementation of its principles is also hindered by war conflicts and numerous other global crises, such as the current geopolitical tensions. This makes the reflection on overcoming the conflict between culture and nature more relevant than ever.

At the same time, the exhibition raises the question of the role of art in raising public awareness of the complex issues of global change. The artists shed light on the topic from different perspectives, but they all share a critical note about the current state of the world.
