7th literary evening for the project "Oltreconfine Ungaretti"

Seventh literary evening for the ‘Oltreconfine Ungaretti’ project The evening will focus on Ungaretti's poems from ‘Il Porto Sepolto’ and on nature and landscape during the First World War.

Seventh literary evening for the ‘Oltreconfine Ungaretti’ project. Speakers: Carla Mazzone, former Italian literature teacher at the Liceo Classico Dante Alighieri of Gorizia, will speak about Giuseppe Ungaretti.

‘The Buried Port: The Abyss and the Salvific Power of Poetry’. Giulia Sattolo, historical researcher and high school teacher, will highlight the human and anthropological context in which Ungaretti found himself, with the natural and agrarian landscape devastated by the war.

Francesco Accomando, artistic director of the project, will interpret some of Giuseppe Ungaretti's lyrics. Music performed live by cellist Pierluigi Rojatti. Rojatti graduated with top marks from the Conservatorio Steffani in Castelfranco Veneto under the guidance of Walter Vestidello and specialised with maestros Scarpa, Steckel, Bronzi and Gnocchi.

He performs as a soloist in chamber and orchestral ensembles, in 2024 under the direction of Maestro Riccardo Muti he performed in the Musikfefain hall in Vienna and in the Konzerthaus in Berlin. ----- ‘Oltreconfine Ungaretti’ is a network project financed by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region within the framework of the call for proposals dedicated to Ungaretti.

Lead partner of the project: Sagrado Municipality Events The network: Campolongo Tapogliano, Doberdò del Lago, Mariano del Friuli, Romans d'Isonzo, Santa Maria la Longa and Savogna d'Isonzo and the Gruppo Speleologico Carsico as partners and the Municipalities of Gorizia and Nova Gorica within the events of ‘GO!2025 Nova Gorica and Gorizia Capitale Europea della Cultura 2025’. The ISIS Galilei of Gorizia also collaborates in the project.

‘Oltreconfine Ungaretti’ is a cross-border cultural project between Italian-speaking and Slovene-speaking communities, on the creation of a shared historical, cultural and landscape memory and imagery, with the intention of investigating, collecting and recounting in theatrical form the human and poetic life of Giuseppe Ungaretti in the period 1914-1919, as it evolved through the terrible experience of the Great War, starting from the poems that the poet wrote in territories that today belong to Friuli Venezia Giulia and neighbouring Slovenia.

Speakers: Carmen Mazzone, former Italian literature teacher at the Liceo Classico Dante Alighieri in Gorizia Giulia Sattolo, historical researcher and high school teacher Francesco Accomando, artistic director of the project, will read some poems by Ungaretti. Live music with cellist Pierluigi Rojatti.
