27th SAJETA: Vocal Workshop with Elena Hristova (Baklava)

The Vocal Workshop with Elena Hristova explores traditional singing techniques from the Balkans and Türkiye through their contemporary interpretations. Open to singers, musicians, performers, and anyone drawn to the expressive potential of the human voice, it invites participants to discover new vocal possibilities.

The Vocal Workshop (15–18 July 2026), led by Macedonian vocalist Elena Hristova, explores traditional singing techniques from the Balkans and Türkiye and their contemporary interpretations.

Through vocal expression, ornamentation, and storytelling through music, participants will explore new approaches to interpreting traditional songs while discovering the expressive potential of the human voice. The workshop is open to singers, musicians, performers, and anyone interested in the voice as a creative medium, regardless of prior experience. 

It concludes with a participants’ performance on the festival stage on Saturday, 18 July. Elena Hristova is a vocalist, composer, and the leading voice of the acclaimed Macedonian ensemble Baklava.

Her artistic work bridges the rich musical heritage of the Balkans and Türkiye with contemporary musical expression, and through performances and workshops she has inspired audiences across Europe and beyond.
