27th SAJETA: Music Improvisation Workshop with Carlo Mascolo

The Sajeta Lab Arkestra music workshop, led by Italian musician Carlo Mascolo, invites participants into an open orchestra of improvisers, where collective improvisation and collaborative music-making give rise to new, unfolding musical material.

The Sajeta Lab Arkestra Music Workshop (16–18 July 2026), led by Italian musician Carlo Mascolo, invites instrumentalists and vocalists into an open orchestra of improvisers, where collective intuitive improvisation, open forms, and group work give rise to new musical compositions.

The workshop is open to all instrumentalists and singers interested in exploring music-in-the-making and engaging in processes of improvisation, regardless of prior experience. A part of the workshop is dedicated to instrument preparation and extended techniques, with a special focus on wind players.

It concludes with a participants’ performance on the festival stage on Saturday, 18 July. Carlo Mascolo is an Italian musician, researcher, and artistic director of the Free Flow Fest. His work connects improvisation, sonic exploration, and collaboration with artists across different disciplines.
