The Prečkanja – Sconfinamenti Festival

The Prečkanja – Sconfinamenti Festival is the result of a cross-border collaboration between Glasbena matica Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Imago Sloveniae – Image of Slovenia Foundation, and acclaimed piano virtuoso Alexander Gadjiev, who conceived the project and also serves as its artistic director.

The Prečkanja – Sconfinamenti Festival is the result of cross-border collaboration between the Glasbena matica of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Imago Sloveniae Foundation – Image of Slovenia, and the renowned piano virtuoso Alexander Gadjiev, who conceived the project and serves as its artistic director. The festival’s program focuses on top-tier classical music concerts, highlighting young “rising stars” from around the world. It also features artist residencies and masterclasses led by distinguished teachers. Following the great success of last year’s inaugural edition, the festival will take place this year from 23 June to 6 July 2025, across several venues between the Gorizia cross-border region and Ljubljana. 27th June, 8.30 PM, Dobrovo Castel Michiaki Ueno – A New Cello Virtuoso Michiaki Ueno is one of the most gifted cellists of his generation. He rose to international fame after winning the prestigious Geneva International Music Competition in 2021, where his performance of Lutosławski’s Cello Concerto drew global acclaim. His remarkable journey began at the age of eleven with a debut at Suntory Hall and victory at the Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians. Ueno studied with leading mentors and has performed with top orchestras and renowned artists such as Martha Argerich, Mischa Maisky, and Charles Dutoit. He has appeared at major international festivals and was awarded the Beethoven-Ring in Bonn in 2024. His debut album, released at just 26, features the complete Bach Cello Suites—an ambitious and mature artistic statement. The Prečkanja – Sconfinamenti Festival is funded by the European Union through the GO! 2025 Small Projects Fund of the Interreg VI-A Italy–Slovenia 2021–2027 programme, managed by the EGTC GO. Free tickets, generously offered by Večer, GenLan and Primorske novice, can be collected at the venue during the last hour before the event starts. Reservations are not possible.
