On 14th April, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, visited the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Matarella. One of the three topics they touched on was also the European Capital of Culture 2025, which will be hosted by Nova Gorica with Gorizia.

Presidents Pahor and Mattarella have recognised in GO! 2025 European Capital of Culture the desire of our cross-border space and the two cities, Nova Gorica and Gorica, to breathe as one. They expressed their intention to visit the “two Goricas and one city” together this autumn.

The presidents have also officially announced their joint patronage of this wonderful, borderless story and project, which they believe goes beyond the regional framework, which should be considered as a model of coexistence and cooperation and which is European in its’ essence.
