Literary Train

A full-day literary journey from Nova Gorica to Vilenica with a stop in Sežana

The international literary festivals Mesto knjige (Book City) and Vilenica invite you to a wonderful journey of Srečko Kosovel from Nova Gorica to Sežana on the Literary Train, which will depart from the Nova Gorica railway station on Saturday, 7 September at 2.41 pm. With the guest of honour, Dušan Šarotar, and special guests Ludwig Hartinger and Aleš Berger, we will travel to the Karst plateau, where we will reach the Vilenica Cave, following the Kosovel Trail and a literary evening in the Kosovel Hall. There we will pay homage to another writer already hosted by the Mesto knjige, this year's Vilenica Prize winner, Miljenko Jergović. After the literary readings, we will close the evening and both festivals with a concert by the nomadic musical horde Grunt.

Places are limited.

Registration fee of 10 € includes the train ticket, a bus ride and a snack on the way. Registrations can be collected at:

After confirmation of registration, the registration fee must be paid at the Mesto knjige information stand or to the association's TRR account by Friday 6 September at noon. Instructions will be sent by e-mail. This will confirm the booking of the trip.
