The Piccolo Opera Festival presents the premiere of an operatic diptych that employs musical language to explore the themes of border, liminality, and identity between Nova Gorica and Gorizia.
The festival has entrusted the artistic content of the project to two young artists: the Italian composer Sara Caneva and the Slovenian-Croatian composer Juraj Marko Žerovnik.
The instrumental part of both operas will be composed by the GO! Borderless Orchestra, a collaboration between the Piccolo Opera Festival and the Lojze Bratuž Cultural Centre, the Slovenian Centre for Music Education Emil Komel, the NOVA Music Society, and the Nova Gorica Music School. This orchestra brings together Italian and Slovenian musicians.
