Nova Gorica was built ab initio, from scratch, the first planned new city in post-war Yugoslavia. Research into the history of Nova Gorica enables the preservation and promotion of the city's tangible and intangible heritage. In addition to research, the project also aims to create a digital archive of Nova Gorica's urban heritage. The project fills a gap in heritage research and evaluation by creating the first comprehensive, transparent, and open platform for the history of the city and the stories of its inhabitants.
The project also includes the analysis and presentation of new (modernist) cities, which have also been built ab initio in twentieth-century Europe.
